Year 8 - Musical Theatre performance
Kia Ora guys!
Great rehearsal today! I will add the video to this post when we have uploaded it and we will share it with you also!

Understanding your music!!
Hi team,
You are now really underway with your group performances. As we head into the phase where you work on the performance element of your song, it is important that you know and understand what the song is about. This week research your song and write a blog post. Include the composer and performer of the original version, What the song is about and any political or social issues it may or may not cover!

Year 10 - Guitar Skills!
Hey year 10 team! Loving your work on guitar skills. We will be doing our skills presentation next week. Remember just play what you can but challenge yourself!

Remember that you have deadlines coming up.... You are preparing for a practise solo performance in Week 8. This can be just a quick 30 seconds of something as this is purely just practise at performing in front of an audience bu yourself.
Group performance - we are looking at a final performance deadline of week 10. Next week ( week 7) should be the final week of learning your individual parts. After this you will be rehearsing as a group.

I am incredibly impressed with all of you this term so far!! I am enjoying seeing you all work so hard on your keyboard skills. I know that performing your piece is going to be challenging but I have faith in all of you. Play your best and remember its the quality of what you play not the quantity I am looking for. If you nailed the first line of your song beautifully then just perform that!

Musical Theatre strikes again!
Hey yr 8 and 9. You have started off this term brilliantly! The research elements for our musical theatre project are now complete and we are now going into performance planning. 11 music
So, all those deadlines are fast approaching!! Solo performance is WEEK 8, next week, wednesday and thursday will be our assessment days. This week we will have a practice performance on thursday, this will be a good chance to get some peer feedback which is vital and also good for our confidence. Composition first draft is week 9, first draft means it is still a work in progress. This will be the stage where i can give you some feedback before you hand it in as a final piece! There are some awesome sounding songs so can't wait to hear them!

Year 11 composing.
Today we made our first blog post on the beginning of the composing process! ( If you haven't then get on to that asap!) The beginning stages of composing are important so that we can head in a creative direction that works for us. We have looked at a variety of styles of composing including hanging out with the wonderful Matt Barus a christchurch singer/songwriter. Hopefully this has lead everyone into a direction of composing that they are interested in! So, get ready for the composing process, keep the blogging/diary going and I look forward to hearing the beginnings of NZ's next greatest song!!
